Services

Walk-In Assistance

One-on-one assistance is available on a first-come, first-served basis in the laboratory, though we encourage you to schedule a consultation in advance for more complex problems or in-depth assistance. We're happy to provide troubleshooting help and general assistance whenever we can. Each member of our staff has expertise in different areas and a general knowledge of all of our most-used software and equipment. Patrons can also walk-in for VHS, DVD, and CD dubbing and duplicating.

Consultations

New Media Center lab assistants and staff are happy to provide free consultations and one-on-one help on a wide range of software and equipment. From recording and editing video and audio to preparing graphics for print or digital output and building websites, the New Media Center is a great resource for multimedia practice and learning. We support users of both Windows and Macintosh operating systems.

Consultations need to be scheduled in advance to make sure you are teamed up with the most knowledgeable staff member on your particular area of interest. To schedule a consultation, contact Operations Specialist Ben Capozzi at newmedia@vt.edu.

Tours

The New Media Center offers orientation tours for students and faculty year-round. Many instructors include a visit to the Center as part of their regular class agenda each semester. In 15 minutes, we can show you resources that will aid college careers for years to come. To schedule a tour, contact our Operations Specialist, Ben Capozzi, at newmedia@vt.edu

Equipment Loans

The New Media Center loans out digital still cameras, video cameras, and video camera accessories. Digital still cameras and standard definition digital video camera may be checked out by any University faculty, staff, or students on a first-come, first-served basis. High definition digital video cameras and video camera accessories are available to faculty and staff by reservation. Graduate students with a note from their professor can also check out the video cameras and accessories.
